Not expecting: Omar Abdullah's counter to minister's 'Article 370 won't be restored' remark

Omar Abdullah has hit back at Ravi Shankar Prasad after the union minister said "Article 370 won't be restored", saying it was not expected.

Omar Abdullah also took a dig at Ravi Shankar Prasad over his remarks that Article 370 of the Constitution will not be restored and urged him not to presume what the Supreme Court judges would decide on the matter.

In a tweet, Omar Abdullah said, "Dear Ravi Shankar Prasad ji, we don't expect you to restore anything but unless you are suggesting the Supreme Court has surrendered its independence & takes dictation from you please don't presume to know what the Hon judges will decide."

Ravi Shankar Prasad, the Union law minister, on Saturday said the special status of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 will not be restored.

Ravi Shankar Prasad had also slammed former J&K CM Mehbooba Mufti over her "won't hoist Tricolour till the Kashmiri flag is restored" remark, saying it was "downright denunciation" of the national flag's sanctity.

 

Addressing the press for the first time in over 14 months since the abrogation of Article 370 in August last year and her subsequent months-long detention, Mehbooba Mufti said she will hoist the tricolour only when the flag of J&K is returned to the state.
